The Algerian Embassy in Bangladesh Celebrates the 64th Anniversary of Independence and Youth Day

The Algerian Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, commemorated the 64th Independence Day and Youth Day, which coincides with July 5, with a solemn ceremony held at the Royal Paradise Hotel in Dhaka under the national theme “The Legacy of Generations.”

This commemorative event brought together prominent Bangladeshi figures and numerous distinguished guests. The ceremony was graced by the presence of His Excellency Mr. Zahir Uddin Swapan, the Honorable Minister of Information and Broadcasting of Bangladesh, as the guest of honor, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the business community, academia, the media, and the Algerian community in Bangladesh.

In his address, the Algerian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Abdelouahab Saïdani, paid tribute to the immense sacrifices made by the Algerian people during the War of National Liberation. He highlighted the unwavering principles of sovereignty, freedom, justice, and self-determination that continue to guide Algeria’s domestic and foreign policies. The Ambassador also outlined the economic reforms undertaken by Algeria, the investment opportunities the country offers, and the promising prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation with Bangladesh, particularly in the fields of trade, energy, agriculture, the pharmaceutical industry, information and communication technologies, and investment.

For his part, His Excellency Mr. Zahir Uddin Swapan praised the excellent friendly relations between Algeria and Bangladesh, recalling the historical parallels between the two countries’ struggles for liberation. He welcomed the growing momentum in trade and economic exchanges between the two sister nations, while highlighting Algeria’s strengths and the beauty of its capital, Algiers, which he described as “the whitest city.” Finally, he called for further expansion of the networks of cooperation and partnership between the two countries.

The ceremony also featured a remarkable turnout of young people from the Algerian community as well as Bangladeshi Scouts, whose cultural and patriotic performances contributed to the success of the celebration and helped promote the values of unity, solidarity, and patriotism
