Bangladesh-Algeria Business Forum: Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Dhaka, January 2025 – A pivotal meeting between his Excellency, the Algerian Ambassador of Algeria to Bangladesh, Dr Abdelouaheb Saidani, and Bangladeshi business leaders has recently set the stage for stronger trade, cultural exchanges, and investment between Bangladesh and Algeria.
The formation of the Bangladesh-Algeria Business Forum was announced, with Mr. Mohammad Nurul Mostofa appointed as its President. Other key roles will be determined through membership procedures.
Bangladesh aims to export mangoes to Algeria, while Algeria plans to supply apples, oranges, and dates to Bangladesh, fostering mutual trade benefits. Plans include dubbing Algerian films in Bengali and exploring direct flights to boost tourism. A friendly football match is also being considered to deepen cultural ties.
Discussions focused equally on importing Algerian oil and gas to support Bangladesh’s energy demands, presenting a key area for collaboration.
The forum will promote investment in sectors such as agriculture, energy, tourism, and garments. Algeria’s policies enabling access to state-owned land offer promising opportunities for Bangladeshi investors.
Algeria’s Commerce Minister will visit Bangladesh in February 2025 to advance trade discussions. A forum delegation will visit Algeria to explore business opportunities.
With a focus on sustainable economic partnerships, the forum will drive trade, investment, and cultural collaboration between the two nations.
