On 19 July 2025, His Excellency Dr. Abdelouahab Saidani, Ambassador of Algeria to Bangladesh, visited three major export-oriented industries in Barishal—Fortune Footwear Ltd., Sonargaon Spinning Mills & Textile, and Bengal Biscuits Ltd.—as part of Algeria’s strategic push for industrial cooperation with Bangladesh. He praised Fortune’s large-scale, globally competitive footwear production and invited them to explore setting up a manufacturing plant in Algeria to benefit from attractive investment incentives and access to African markets. At Sonargaon Textile, employing over 4,000 workers, he emphasized joint venture potential in Algeria’s growing textile sector. During his visit to Bengal Biscuits, which exports to over 20 countries, the Ambassador highlighted Algeria’s agro-processing opportunities and invited them to use Algeria as a gateway to expand in Africa. These visits reflect Algeria’s intent to forge deep industrial ties with Bangladesh through mutually beneficial investments and technology-driven collaboration.
