The Embassy commemorated the 64th anniversary of Algeria’s Victory Day on 19 March 2026 with due dignity, bringing together representatives from civil society, religious scholars, business leaders, media, and the cultural community. The program featured the hoisting of the national flag, a minute of silence for the martyrs, and a Quran recitation. In his address, Ambassador Abdelouahab Saidani highlighted the significance of the 19 March 1962 ceasefire following the Évian Accords, which paved the way for Algeria’s independence on 5 July 1962, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the Algerian people and the FLN. He also noted Algeria’s progress, its global role in supporting liberation movements, and the shared historical bonds with Bangladesh. A documentary on Victory Day was screened, and the event concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening Algeria-Bangladesh relations and promoting the values of independence and cooperation.
