In a solemn atmosphere, the Algerian Embassy in Dhaka commemorated the 65th anniversary of the December 11, 1960 demonstrations today, December 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM. This event marked a significant date in the Glorious Revolution of November 1, 1954. Distinguished guests, including media representatives, religious figures, business leaders, members of the Islamic Scouts, and Algerian nationals residing in Bangladesh, participated in this solemn commemoration.
In his address, Ambassador Abdelouahab Saidani emphasized the historical significance of the massive and spontaneous demonstrations of December 11, 1960, which took place across several cities in Algeria. He also highlighted the decisive role of these events in weakening the colonial project and in changing the position of the international community, which then recognized the legitimacy of the Algerian people’s struggle for self-determination and independence.
